Materials:Stainless steel wire mesh cloth wraps around a hardwood frame for a clean looking profile, yet still allows for custom framing.
Gypsum cement is blended and hand poured in delicate strands that dry and swell to create a beautifully
embossed surface.
Dramatically affected by changing light, each one can also double as ambient lighting and casts a striking silhouette when illuminated.
Embellishments such as crystals, glass beading, wire, perforations and stitching are added to select pieces.

Are they durable?
Yes. During production when the cement is wet it seeps into the tiny holes in the stainless steel mesh. As it dries, the cement swells and bonds onto the mesh. Pieces are most fragile within the first 24 hours of production, but completely harden and cure within a week or two. I’ve even dropped several on occasion (although I wouldn’t recommend doing this!) without incident.
Any changes as they age?
The “off white” nature of the gypsum cement can continue to slightly whiten over time.
Any places they are NOT suitable for?
They are not suitable for exterior use, or damp and/or humid environments (like bathrooms).
How do I care for my new artwork?
Gently dust regularly with a clean duster or microfibre cloth.
Where do you ship to?
Internationally, however, pieces sold outside of Canada are sold without any lighting options (as artwork only). Keep in mind that you are responsible for any additional custom duties or taxes that may apply.
Does Studio KAVENE ever have studio sales?
Yes - if you would like to be notified of future studio sales, art shows, and special offers, please subscribe to my mailing list.
How can I pay?
In person with Visa, MasterCard or cash. Online, with PayPal (which accepts most major credit cards), or by cheque for commissions (funds must clear before shipping).
*Please keep in mind that because of the nature of my creative process, every one of my pieces is a unique and original creation.
